Your data, clearly explained

Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Sudoku Studio app and this support website.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be handled when you use Sudoku Studio, why it is used, where it is stored, and how you can manage or delete it. In this policy, “we” means the developer of Sudoku Studio.

The short version Sudoku Studio has no developer-operated account system, does not sell personal information, and does not include a developer-operated analytics service. Game progress is stored on your device and, when available, in your private iCloud database. Google AdMob may process technical and advertising data when ads are enabled.

2. Data we handle

The app may handle the following categories of information:

Profile preferences
Your chosen display name, avatar and visual profile style. You do not need to provide your real name.
Game and progress data
Saved puzzles, entered values, notes, elapsed time, hints used, completions, statistics, XP, level, streaks, daily-puzzle history, challenges and variant progress.
App preferences
Language, appearance, sound, haptics, gameplay highlighting, mistake checking and local advertising-pacing counters.
iCloud status
Whether iCloud is available and a local timestamp for the most recent successful sync. The app does not receive your Apple Account password.
Purchase status
StoreKit product and verified entitlement information used to determine whether Premium is active. Apple processes the payment.
Advertising data
When ads are configured and permitted, Google Mobile Ads may process IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device identifiers, ad views, ad interactions, app interactions, crash logs and performance information.
Support correspondence
Your email address and anything you choose to include when you contact support. Please do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information.

3. Storage on your device and in iCloud

Local storage

Sudoku Studio stores game progress and preferences on your device so puzzles can be resumed and progress can be restored between sessions. Generated puzzle-cache data remains local and is not synchronized to iCloud.

iCloud and CloudKit

On supported builds, if you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available, the app uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize your player profile, statistics, daily history and saved games. This data is stored in the app's private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. App preferences such as language, appearance, sound and haptics remain local to the device.

We do not receive your Apple Account email address or password. Apple handles iCloud under its own privacy terms and security controls.

4. Advertising and consent

The free version may use Google AdMob to show interstitial advertisements between eligible puzzle completions and rewarded video advertisements when you choose to request a hint. Ads are never required to start or complete a puzzle. Every hint uses an optional rewarded video, including for Premium users. Premium removes automatic interruption ads but not rewarded hint videos.

The Google User Messaging Platform checks consent requirements when the app launches. Where required, it presents privacy choices before ad requests are made. The app only requests ads when Google's consent status indicates that ad requests are allowed. Depending on your region and choices, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, limited or technical ads.

Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK may collect IP address, device identifiers, advertising data, product interactions, crash logs and performance data. These may be used for third-party advertising, ad measurement, analytics, fraud prevention and service performance, subject to consent, device settings and applicable law.

When Google requires an in-app privacy-options entry point, you can reopen it from Settings → About → Privacy choices in Sudoku Studio.

5. App Tracking Transparency

Sudoku Studio may present Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission request after any required regional advertising consent choices have been completed. Tracking across other companies’ apps and websites is only permitted when you explicitly allow it through Apple’s system prompt.

If you allow tracking, Google Mobile Ads may access the advertising identifier (IDFA) for personalized advertising, advertising measurement and related purposes. If you deny permission, the app does not authorize access to the IDFA and Google may instead provide non-personalized or limited advertisements, depending on your region and consent choices. Denying tracking permission does not restrict access to Sudoku Studio or its gameplay features.

You can review or change this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Tracking.

6. Premium purchases

Premium is an optional one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles your payment method, billing information, purchase history and refunds. Sudoku Studio receives only the product information and verified entitlement status needed to unlock Premium. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or banking details.

7. Analytics and diagnostics

Sudoku Studio does not currently include Firebase Analytics, a developer-operated analytics platform or a separate developer-operated crash-reporting service. Apple may provide aggregated crash and diagnostic information when you choose to share analytics with developers through your device settings. Google Mobile Ads may process SDK crash logs and performance data as described above.

8. This website

This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting. It does not use advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms or developer-set cookies. Firebase Hosting and network providers may process basic request information, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL and timestamps, to securely deliver the site, prevent abuse and maintain service reliability.

If you contact support by email, your email provider and our email provider process the message under their respective privacy terms.

9. Children

Sudoku Studio is a general-audience puzzle game and is not specifically directed to children under 13. The app does not ask for a date of birth, postal address, telephone number or account registration. Players should use a nickname rather than a real full name. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information through a support email may contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

If Sudoku Studio is ever offered in Apple's Kids Category, the app's advertising, links and data practices will be reviewed and adjusted to meet the stricter Kids Category requirements before release.

10. Retention and deletion

  • Local app data remains until you delete it in the app or delete the app and its data from the device.
  • iCloud game data remains in your private CloudKit database until you delete it using the app or remove it through Apple's available iCloud controls.
  • Purchase records are retained by Apple according to Apple's legal and accounting obligations.
  • Advertising and consent data is retained by Google according to your choices, Google's policies and applicable law.
  • Support emails are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain a record of the resolution and meet legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized.

Delete synchronized game data

  1. Open Settings in Sudoku Studio.
  2. Open the iCloud Sync section.
  3. Choose Delete iCloud Data and confirm.

This removes synchronized profiles, progress and saved games from the device and iCloud, then creates a fresh empty profile so the app remains usable. Deletion may take a short time to propagate to other devices.

Delete all local app data

You can remove the app and its local data through iOS/iPadOS Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage → Sudoku → Delete App. “Offload App” may preserve data and is not the same as deletion.

11. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent.

  • Edit your display name and avatar from the in-app profile screen.
  • Change available advertising consent choices through the in-app Privacy choices entry point.
  • Manage Apple privacy, iCloud and analytics choices in your device settings.
  • Delete synchronized game data or all local app data using the steps above.
  • Contact us about support correspondence or another privacy request.

Because private CloudKit records are tied to your Apple Account and Sudoku Studio has no separate user account, the in-app deletion control is the safest way to identify and delete your synchronized game data. Never send us your Apple Account password.

12. Service providers and data protection

Sudoku Studio relies on the following providers:

  • Apple — App Store, StoreKit, iCloud and CloudKit.
  • Google — Google Mobile Ads, User Messaging Platform and Firebase Hosting for this website.
  • Proton — email delivery when you contact the support address.

These providers process data under their own privacy terms. We select providers that are expected to protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable platform and privacy requirements. Data may be processed in countries other than your own, using safeguards required by applicable law.

  • Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google Privacy Policy
  • Proton Privacy Policy

13. Security

We use the security features provided by iOS, iPadOS, CloudKit, StoreKit and HTTPS hosting. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Keep your device, Apple Account and operating system protected and up to date.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be communicated in the app or on this website when appropriate.

15. Contact

For privacy questions, deletion requests relating to support correspondence, or other concerns, email jacbergson@protonmail.com.
